NMUSAF has paperwork on the plane from when it was put on loan to the VFW in Mississippi. Unfortunately no one in Mississippi has any records. We are awaiting the rest of the paperwork from them.

The paperwork is going to be submitted this week and with any luck the plane will be on its way to its new home early spring 2015, if not sooner. :drink3:

No I don't live in that area and I've talked with Mr. Steve Amos a few times. I'm more than likely going to be part of the crew that disassembles and moves it to its new home. Once all the paperwork is completed we would like to take a trip to Hazelhurst for our own visual inspection and gather some local accommodation information. :drink3:

Well done, thanks for saving her!

The "D" nose is a great looking ship.

Yes it is. I'm anxiously looking forward to working on/with it. :drink3:

Cooper,

I'm based not far from where the F-86 is located. I'd like the opportunity to help out with the disassembly when the time comes. Drop me a PM or an email and let me know. At the very least, I can photo journal the recovery and publish a report on the event.

Thanks Rob, I'll definitely stay in contact. I'm sure nothing will be done until possibly spring. I've spoken with reps from NMUSAF and the party that wants the F-86 has indeed submitted all paperwork, so now we just await the response.
