World News Daily Report is a news and political satire web publication, which may or may not use real names, often in semi-real or mostly fictitious ways. All news articles contained within worldnewsdailyreport.com are fiction, and presumably fake news. Any resemblance to the truth is purely coincidental, except for all references to politicians and/or celebrities, in which case they are based on real people, but still based almost entirely in fiction.

Hello,

Yes, I saw this link, probably BS. Never saw or heard of any IJN Air Ops in this region in over 15 years of research on the IJN.

As Chris is trying to tell you, this is a satirical fake news site. It is making a point by publishing its absurd stories, and also making a point about how uncritical today's audience is when people pick up its headlines, pay absolutely no attention to their source and its credibility, and post them for discussion in a forum like this as if they were serious. If you were considering posting to this thread or took that story seriously for even a second, you are the butt of the site's joke and might want to review your news media consumption habits.

For crying out loud...it's NOT a B-32, the photo CLEARLY shows it's an XB-24N! Get your facts straight, people!

I'm guilty of starting the thread, though I assumed the references to a moon bomber and the April publication date were enough to demonstrate I thought we were all in on the joke.

This is where Poe's Law comes into play. It basically states that on the internet, you simply cannot make a story or conspiracy so crazy that someone out there won't take it seriously, unless you explicitly state that your intent is humor (and even then it's iffy...) ;)

This should include television. On the G503 there is a guy restoring a jeep who posted on a thread about the anniversary of the 69 moon landing that he believes the landing was a hoax. I asked him why and his reply was he had seen the specials on tv. He was serious. Then he referred to those who believe we landed on the moon as sheeple.

I'm still laughing.

:D

If the fuel tanks were empty it would be possible that it floated there after being shot down somewhere in the Pacific. To those who will say its impossible remember native Hawaians ansestors made it all the way to Hawaii and easter island in canoes a trip of several thousand miles and actually found small islands in thousand of miles of sea so its not that far fetched that one of the thousands of planes downed in the pacific stayed afloat for some time. Maybe even long enough for a crossing. Doubtful but possible. Small boats from japan have been found on the pacific coast of the us as well.

....perhaps some organizations should review how they publish & consume their media habits. Now it looks that the whole thing was an April's fools day thing!

WIXers, this is a well-known dive wreck in Kimbe Bay in Papua, New Guinea.

Here's the site from which the Peru pic was "borrowed":

A few more details on this same A6M:

I did enjoy the theory about it drifting to Peru. Perhaps the Japanese missed an opportunity to attack the Panama Canal employing this method..."500th Kokutai: The Infamous Zero-Sen Floating Chrysanthemum Drift Attack Unit of WWII". pop2
