has anyone ever done this modification, like the mustangs with a dart? is it just not worth doing? any google efforts just turn up the new texan II.

That would be a odd looking thing. I expect it would have an anteater nose.

yes it would be ugly. and it would not make that crazy sound all of them make (love that sound). but, there are so many of them, and in civilian hands for so long. i mean, if somebody can put a DC-3 on floats, i'm surprised i can't find evidence of a turboprop NAA texan. from my observations in life, if it can be done, somebody will do it. just because.

The DC-3 on floats was a quasi-factory thing...or at least AAF, so not quite the same thing as a backyard guy with too much time on his hands. :)

But there was a nosewheel T-6 and my favorite, a four seat cabin mod of a BT-13 which reminded me of the Fuji four-seat T-34..."...a roundabout way of making an ugly Bonanza" Is what someone at Flying called it years ago.

a BT-13 viceroy was for sale near me not long ago, in Hamilton Ohio or somewhere round there. and i recall one of those Fujis crashed a couple of years ago. I've learned a lot since wix-ing up. and i'm a ghoul that studies the mishaps on ASN. you cannot help but soak up all this knowledge, which impresses nobody. well, i still think there's a turbo Texan out there.....and an ivory billed woodpecker too!

I've been thinking about this, and all I can come up with is that a turboprop Texan would be really weird looking and probably really ugly looking. If you consider what a DC-3 looks like with turboprop engines. . .

None I've ever heard of. There have been a couple T-6s modified with inverted inline Rangers, and at least one turboprop T-28, but that's about it.

Not a T-6 I know. Here's the Taiwanese built AIDC A-CH-1 based on the T-28 with a turbine engine.

Don't forget the YAT-28E.
