...November 9th. The museum will be open from the 9th (Wednesday) onward during regular museum hours (Wed - Sun 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM).

I got this from a museum volunteer. I thought I would pass this on.

Do you want to find locations of displayed, stored or active aircraft? Then start with the The Locator.
Do you want to find or contribute to the documented history of an aircraft? If so then start with the Airframes Database.

I assume that is the Halifax being restored in the Great White North, I really wish that it was a bit easier to get to for me but that stupid lake makes for a VERY long drive.

The following article was printed in the Trentonian, October 31, 2005.

History unfolding at RCAF Museum
World’s only Halifax bomber to be unveiled Saturday

http://www.trentonian.ca/webapp/sitepages/content.asp?contentid=131639&catname=Local+News&classif=News+%2D+National%0D%0A

They are planning to have a simulated take-off of the Halifax as a part of it's unveiling. Cool!

I really hope that the general public will get a chance to witness this display after the official dedication.

The article implies that the Mercury engines will run... is this so? Did the restoration team bring the engines back to something more than static or is the writer of the article getting a bit carried away? I've been down to Trenton and seen the Halifax about halfway through the restoration but I never thought to ask about the engines because I always assumed the aircraft was being restored to static condition.

I have not direct connection with the restoration team. From what I remember from my visits over the last decade the engines were not to be restored to running condition. They were not about to take on the expense of the necessary over haul of the Bristol Hercules sleeve valve engines. I think the reporter exagerated as often happens. They probably have some fancy light show planned or something similar.

You're probably right... the idea of 4 Hercules (I had mistakenly said Mercury... I was just looking at some info on the CWH's Lysander, had Mercury foremost in my mind) engines being run up in the confines of the new RCAF museum seemed a bit "off" to say the least. If it's extremely difficult to get one working Centaurus sleeve valve engine mated to a Sea Fury it'd be next to impossible to get 4 working Hercules engines mated to a Halifax.

Thanks, Goshikisen.
