We completely stripped and cleaned the cowlings, removed all old fasteners and ugly scab patches. The three curved nose bowl pieces were to far gone but we were fortunate to find these pieces from a salvage dealer that was parting out T-41B 67-15030.

The rivet holes on the replacement pieces matched up perfectly with our old cowling.

Newly overhauled left hand flap, with new skins, bead reinforcement and new nutplates. Inside of flap is painted with epoxy primer.
Finish is scuffed for painting.

Finally got the instrument panels back from powder coat. We took the panel back to Army Flat Gray, the DEA had painted everything flat black. All instruments inspected, some overhauled, some replaced. Both yokes are also done and ready to install.

I love it when a plan(e) comes together :D

How lucky was having all those rivet holes line up?
Looking good.
Thanks for the update

Andy

Thanks Andy, we stripped the paint off the military data plate today, the other Cessna plate is on the left door frame, this plate is on the right door frame.

Looking good! So when are you going to try and get it in for paint?

Tyler I have a reservation for March 1st. That will give us time to go ahead and strip the fuselage and replace all of the glass and get the interior in. Will most likely try to get it to the avionics shop for GPS installation during Feb. and then to paint.

Best Regards,
Steve

Did the tail cone crawl today and washed everything out with soap and water. You have to love these old military aircraft with full corrosion proofing, never found ad corrosion in any of the L-19s we restored.

Final cleanup of wiring and switches, labeling as we go. Control knobs cleaned/restored, fuselage almost completely stripped, only a few small antenna patches left to do.. Began removing the old firewall blanket.
