Thanks for posting. Great photos!

P.S. "Marge" is the P-38 donated to the EAA by Connie Edwards and flown to Oshkosh for donation. Yes it's been restored but look at all that original WW II aluminum!

Hello Gents,

Any "surprise" warbird arrivals?

No Hellcat, huh?

Anything from the Rod Lewis collection yet ? His website says a Tigercat and P-38 are coming - but it also says subject to change... How about any new Mustang sightings - "Berlin Express" - "Frances Dell" - "Sierra Sue" ?

Mike, regarding the mentioned Mustangs..."Sierra Sue II" is still a ways from being completed, though it's looking like it could be completed by the end of the year (a restoration for the record books (even when considering the most authentic of Mustang restorations to date)). John Muszala/Pacific Fighters made mention some weeks back that "Berlin Express" wouldn't be coming, and there is no report yet on a first flight. And as of last Friday, "Frances Dell" was still lacking some critical components and has yet to be flight tested.

Regarding the Lewis collection, "MyBombshells" is supposed to be setup next to "Glacier Girl" on the warbird ramp from Wednesday to Saturday, so they might not be arriving until today/tomorrow.

Any new trainer or liaison restorations at the show?

No problem Mike, just trying to go off of what others have passed along to me. Glancing at the webcams, I've noticed that "Glacier Girl" is there now (three Lightnings in a row), as is a Wildcat, another Skyraider (making three), an A-4 Skyhawk, and the FJ-4 Fury. No sign of/word on the B-25 "Georgie's Gal".

Rod Lewis' B-25 has shown up according to the cameras, but I can see much else. If it's not on the field by 8:30am tomorrow, it can't be judged. Looking like pretty slim pickings for the awards this year. Seems like it is really only between Fagen's B-25 and Charlie Cartledge's TBM.

Saw this on the EAA Facebook page:

Quote:
The airport is currently closed to arrivals due to an aircraft incident. We've confirmed that two people were transported to a local hospital, but have no further information at this time. ATC is requesting that inbound aircraft hold, and is advising that the closure should last about an hour.

Anyone have more information?

Yesterday (Wednesday) one of the last airshow acts was a "dogfight" between the Zero (not a T-6, but a real Zero with a US engine) and a Corsair. You can figure how the dogfight ended.

But the fascinating thing was how maneuverable the Zero really was at low speed. Loops, rolls, turns. It looked like a big Cub out there. I knew that was the type's reputation, but it was much more maneuverable than I expected..

Yeah, Warren Pietsch puts on a fantastic display with the Texas Flying Legends Zero, so that you get a really great impression of its maneuverability (what I like to think of as being like what Mikael Carlson does with displays in his Fokker Dr.1 and D.VII - unlike any other display you'll see on the type). It would be fun to see a combination display of Warren Pietsch in the Zero together with Greg Shelton in his Wildcat. I recall a Friday evening at KOSH a few years ago when both were there and, taking off one after each other, seemed to be having a little time-to-climb competition as they dramatically high-angled it after getting airborne.
