Michael and all my WIX friends, please do not fret. Elliott's loss will always affect me but he is in my daily life. Little Bugger keeps hiding tools I was just working with... :lol: My point was that there are very few young people that want to learn this craft or even have a basic skill set.

Your support of this thread is meaningful enough and brings happiness to me. :drink3:

Had to make a new set of jaws for my 501 squeezer to reach down in these upper sections. Introducing, Deep Throat... :shock: $4 in material and some mill time.

So here is how my RH/LH buck worked out. I mounted it to a base.

Then, I clamped the blank to the form and using both flow forming and the Pullmax with linear stretching to form the part.

Quick Tips n Tricks...

To thread on a lathe without trick die holding tooling...So, not my idea but a good one. Don't need an expensive tool in order to start thread dies square and straight. This is 1/2"-20. Use some threaded rod or a bolt cut off in the tail stock. Thread the die on that tail stock from the finish side of the die. Push the tail stock in to butt with your piece needing the threads. As you start to thread, the die comes off the threaded guide square and straight. Lock the chuck and thread by hand or using the lathe in back gear slow speed.

Anyone having issues with Photobucket? That's what I use for images but can't log since last week for uploads. It gets in a log in page loop but stuffs with new advertising...thanks.

Scott, I just finished watching Robin Miller's rundown of Christmas gifts, link attached. I think he mentions you in his Kevin Olson book summary. Kevin sounds like a real card and I am tempted to buy the book, even though I never heard of the guy until 15 minutes ago.

Corsair parts are loking great. Hope you can keep posting.

Yup. Have known Robin since the early 70's and Kevin is exactly as Robin describes. He once had Larry Nuber of ESPN believing he ran a light bulb rebuilding business in his spare time. Fans would send KO burned out bulbs. Kevin would replace them and return them to the fans.

Should be a great book. Waiting for mine to show up.

Back on the air...here are the center inlet duct rib re-enforcing struts. I have one of four for each side that are original. The remaining three per side were lost in the race mod. The boss castings were lost as well for the most part, cut through with a sawsall. I made new ones by EDM, the green pieces.

The tubes start in two diameters, .875" and 1.000" and then had to be formed to elliptical profile. That was covered earlier in this thread. So, I had to figure out how to swedge the ends of these tubes.

The tubes are flattened on the center line of the edge ellipse. The light went on.. :shock: and I made a very simple tool.

So, of course, each of these tube assemblies have a different center to center length so I made a fixture at these print dimensions in order to drill the rivet holes accurately.

Next, they get heat treated and then assembled and painted. Stay tuned...
