Well now I'm REALLY kicking myself for passing up on a cheap MB this past summer...

I kept thinking of the "Warbird Kid" and his jeep.

He'll have to get some cool shots at airshows to add to this thread.

Great stuff!!

Let's not forget our friend Jerry O'Neill in Connecticut and his 1945 CJ.

A 50 Cal. Anti-Aircraft Gun Is Mounted On A Jeep At 8Th Air Station 167 In England. 14 August 1943. 381St Bomb Group

Compared to the 2-handled behemoth in the previous photo, this single-handled machine gun looks more like a .30 cal. to me...

Correct.
It's a pair of RAF .303 aircraft Brownings, license-built by BSA, on a British "Motley Stalk" ground AA mounting.

Ha.. funny you should say that, I just took a few quick shots yesterday at the shop! http://warbirdinformationexchange.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=50250&start=30

I hope to get our Jeep outside and get Drew to take a few pictures when it gets a little warmer. Don't care about the snow really. It's the 10 degree weather that will get you! Thanks for thinking about our little money pit of a project!

An evil minded person with a twisted persona might consider doing a checkerboard pattern on those wheels but ever so slightly off center

Is that a 4 leaf clover for luck, or a Maltese cross on the SNJ wheel?

CURTISS did the same thing (less the astigmatism testing paint job) to a couple of P-40's (including chopping a second cockpit in where the fuselage tank normally went)and used them to train flight line people how to taxi a tail dragger, and since this also has 'curb feelers' I'll bet that was it's purpose.

The p-40 you spoke about also has a tomahawk windscreen in front of the second hole to keep the bugs out of the guys teeth.

The images for this thread have been restored. Lets keep this going. Post your finds of aviation support vehicles of all types. If the vehicle has an aviation connection the post it here!
