Awesome! I'm moving back to the midwest in a couple weeks and am looking forward to my first TOM since the 2011 show. Theme for the 70th anniversary of D-Day perhaps? :drinkers:

Also, it's the 75th Anniversary of the start of WW II. At 0440 hours on Friday September 1, 1939, Germany bombed the unprotected town of Wielun, Poland.

Cheers,

Tom Walsh.

That's the Euro/US-centric view. Others date the start of the war from the Japanese invasion of China in 1937.

August

Of course there's the argument that the two world wars were actually one conflict separated only by a cease fire.

Now what's this business about not being able to bring your own water into your airshow? :axe:

This is a Euro/US-centric forum.

You could also argue that until the Dec 11th Declaration of War by Germany on the the US (and vice versa) that it wasn't a World war, but rather two large (very large) regional conflicts

The Thunderbirds are scheduled to be at Thunder Over MI next summer and The Blues will appear there Aug 29-30, 2015.

As a diehard warbird fan, I don't get excited about seeing the Thunderbirds or Blue Angels at this show, but it does guarantee a bigger crowd and more money for the Yankee Air Museum, which can translate into a bigger and stronger warbird presence!

Can't wait to hear the theme and theme aircraft planned for August 9-10, 2014.

And was really surprised to see the late dates in August for 2015, but understandable with the Blue Angels.

The Blues have the traditional early August weekend open for Thunder 2015, so maybe there will be a date change back to the traditional weekend. But we're getting a little ahead of ourselves with that.

Excited to hear what this year's theme will be. Looking forward to getting back to Thunder. My airshow seasons the past two years have been lacking without two days at Willow Run. I don't mind seeing the Thunderbirds. I haven't seen them in almost seven years and it will definitely help bring in crowds and money for the show.

Still hoping for a D-Day theme: get CWH and VWoC to provide some Commonwealth aircraft, throw in a C-47 flight, a few P-47s and P-51s for a fighter sweep and maybe a B-17 or two and it would be a solid lineup. I'm sure the Thunder crew has big things planned as always!

Great theme that will allow a broad range of warbirds to support it! Hopefully the year for P-47's and a lot of other European and Pacific theater warbirds to attend.

With the Thunderbirds bringing in more revenue, looking forward to good mix of WWII and maybe some post-WWII warbirds too.

Great stuff!!! I hope to see a large range in the air parade. Been awhile since I've seen a P-40. Lots of wishes for this year.

Even though it's an AAF theme, I gotta say GO NAVY! BEAT ARMY!

But my biggest wish for this year is the ability of YAM to be able to say: "WE ALL DID IT, WE TOGETHER SAVED THE BOMBER PLANT"
