American IIWW Fighter Planes in Production.

Sat Aug 03, 2013 4:44 am

I've been wandering, would there be a chance to specify which parts of the aircrafts were subconstructor delivery. I don't mean small things and equipment, just fully prepared elements like wings, ailerons etc.
It is a wide area, yet I figured it would'nt be proper to start many similar threads for single planes.
It is P-38, P-47 and F4U that interest me most, though.

Late war FG-1Ds were probably at least 50% out sourced.
Horizontals were produced in Bristol PA.
Outer wings were made by the Briggs Co.
Wing Center section was from Brewster.
At least the ex Shipley FG-1D had those parts installed.
There were probably more parts other than Goodyear produced but you would have to dig deeper and disassemble to find them.
