My Geneseo 2013

Tue Jul 16, 2013 1:21 pm

For a second year in a row, I went to Geneseo with my Harvard. My friend and I, we had a wonderful time on location, it's always very pleasant to meet the usual suspects who haunt the place.

I had a very interesting flight on Saturday after the show, flying formation with Glenn Goldman who had Eric Dumigan aboard his T-34.

The results of the flight are amazing. I'll let Eric and my friend J-P show you what came out of that session.

Here are a few of my pictures.

Great stuff Ollie! I missed the B-25H fly! If you don't make it to Duxford next year, I look forward to seeing you at Geneseo!

Great shots Ollie!

I kept looking over to see if you were beside your aircraft but alas, our paths did not cross this year.

Your Harvard looks bada$$ Like we mentioned before, I would definitely love to photograph my Tiger beside her. :supz:

What is the history of its markings?

I see a a-26 in the back there. Did that fly too or are they working on that? Great pictures, thanks for letting us share them

DH82EH: The markings of this aircraft are a matter of necessity. Necessity to have it look presentable.
In the beginning, she was natural aluminium:

Then she got primed in green zinc-chromate all over (I don't have any pictures of that era, I should have a few next winter).

After a while, we thought the green was too uniform, so she took on the identity of a Japanese aircraft.

But then I became more involved with her, and I decided that enough was enough.

As my father once had a Harvard in post-war 438 Sqn. colours, and since 438 Sqn., which is known as "City of Montréal", is still around in Saint-Hubert, I decided that she would from now on sport the looks of a 438 Sqn. Hawker Typhoon.

But she was still missing something... The following years, we painted the cowling green and added the Day Fighter Band on the fuselage, as well as a Typhoon serial number with the same last 3 digits as the Harvard's air force number.

After a while, the spinner's backplate developed a crack, so it had to go.

Then we found another backplate in our bin of parts, and BOOM! she had a black nose like any proper 2nd TAF aircraft ought to have.

It flew in for the 2011 show and has been parked ever since. It is owned by MARC and is for sale, along with the A-20 in the hangar. I don't get why nobody is snapping up that A-20 which is practically done?
