I could only imagine the pressure Rick felt when four needed to be turning today and number 2 said no. I suspected that they may have done some private engine runs before the big public startup this morning, for obvious reasons, but it looks like that may not have been the case. I was watching from a laptop while trying to work this morning and I heard they were talking about number 2 afterward but I didn't get to hear what was being said. It looked like it only wanted to run on prime. It must have been a good feeling for Tony Mazzolini in the copilot seat feeling her come to life. Well done to all involved! I can't wait to see her in the air.

I watched on YouTube through the Xbox - I couldn't sleep so I just stayed up, even though it was 1am NZT! When all four were running there were 2,578 people watching on the live feed and the "live chat" was full of excited chatter. It was great! My only gripe was the audio wasn't too hot, but just watching was enough.

I watched 27 plus minutes of engine start just to see a "real live fire-breathing warbird." Soon it will be the second flyable B-29 in the world. WHen was the last time there was even a second B-29 that could run all four engines? Kee Bird?

P.S. I think the number 2 engine needed more priming and and continuos boos pump primingt through the start. Just a guess.

I dunno bout that. They said in a video afterwards that the engine was flooded and they ran it over with the starter to clear the cylinders out.

Did they happen to have a fire truck standing by close?

That's a good point - the livestream angle didn't show the truck, only the two dudes with extinguishers. I was pleased to see it and associated crew in the on-board footage.

On Facebook this morning the team have posted they'll be launching a Kickstarter campaign as part of the final run-up to flight. No link sorry as I'm at work.

I think we are all Warbird lovers, and the B-29 was the big bird of WWII. We as wixxers should go to DOC's kickstarter page, and help put them (DOC's Friends) over the top ($137,500).

I think they set the goal a bit high on this one. $137k is a lot of money! MAAM only set the goal at $35 on their highly successful P-61 fundraising campaign on Kickstarter. MAAM offered better rewards to, including rides for the higher dollar amounts. The Doc crew claims they can't legally sell rides yet.

Not that rewards are the only reason people donate but they are a good incentive to draw in more donations.
