A friend of mine found this recently and thought maybe it was aircraft related. It appears to be some sort of ammo box with rollers for the belts to feed over. There also appears to be pins for possibly hooking it to other ammo boxes.

Elwyn, looks like a 100-round aircraft ammo box.

The hinge arrangement appears to suggest a left-hand feed, but I am far from an expert.

As my friend, Pooner, of unquestionable aviation knowledge and wisdom would tell me...."That's a f'n airplane part" I do concur that it as stated in the previous post, it is a part of an aircraft ammo storage/feed system.

It's a wild ass guess based on not much but I think its A-26 wing gun. Some A-26's had 6-50 cal guns inside the wing and others had the external gun pods (2 pods of 2 guns each). The A-26 with the internal guns used a dual box on one side, outer as I recall, and a single on the inboard. Once again I am not certain but I think this is one of the middle dual boxes as they had several next to each other. With the rollers on both ends it is a middle or inner box.

An A-26 E&M or IPB will answer the question but I am too lazy to go and pull the manual right now. Too much PV-2 stuff to do on this oh so cool Sunday.

I found a photo that might show the box in question. This is an end box, the one furthest from the guns as it does not have rollers on both sides.

It still is up to the documentation for proof or maybe a part number on the box itself
