Judging from the aircraft list this gathering should have been called The Gathering Of Transports And Trainers.

I attended the Gathering of Warbirds & Legends on August 2nd and 3rd. Then I attended a well known airshow in your area of Michigan on August 11th. The event in Kansas was inexpensive, while the one in Michigan was certainly not. I enjoyed both events. However, I feel compelled to note that I heard a fairly common comment amongst the paying spectators in Michigan that I did not hear even once in two days at Topeka: "there is sure a lot of time with no planes flying."
If I can attend only one of these two events next year, I will choose to drive the additional 100 miles to attend the Topeka show, even if the performing aircraft are "Transports And Trainers"

I will be there in 2014, only downside was the weather and I left for home on Sunday so I missed the heavy stuff. Only other bummer was that the Harpoons flew after hours, but was still great to see them and all aircraft that made it. Something was in the air almost all the time.

I would go for the DC3/C47s alone, but then again I am hopelessly biased.

I don't think there is going to be one this year. I have not seen or heard mention of it anywhere.
