I'm wishing this project great success, I've always wanted to see a Tempest fly.

It's been almost a year since we have heard anything. Build a jig yet?

Septrepair,
Since you introduced yourself so eloquently to the guys doing the restoration, I doubt they will post anything here.
Another great posting to take good things away from WIX.

I have been remiss in checking progress out myself.
Between aircraft ownership (PT-26 and a Champ) and pursuing CAF stuff I have not been over since early Summer.

I did blow a half ton of Indian dirt out of the wings and the fuselage aft of the cockpit.

Yes Chris has made a Jig to hold the fuselage and he placed an order for the stringers to rebuild the same. That was early Summer at the aforementioned visit.

Alas- un-related- I have let myself be nominated as Wing Leader for the Gulf Coast Wing and am serving as interim XO.

But I will try and make it over for a visit and will take my camera.

SPANNER the busy-body

Something just doesnt seem right. If talk is about an airworthy restoration and dis-assembly has begun, I see no holding fixtures let alone any equipment in the photos that even suggest that an airworthy restoration is capable. Are you cataloging parts removed by P/N and location so when ( and trust me it will happen) people leave the project , the next guy isnt scratching his head and spending countless hours trying to figure out where things go? Am I missing something? Do you even have any drawings/manuals that can help you locate and verify datum points? The assumption the airframe is straight (looking at the photos it appears to be), isnt a sound practice when restoring an aircraft. There was obvious enough money used to purchase this project, but please tell me there was at least enough more to fund the basic set up costs of a restoration?Do you even funding to do the basic of making an holding fixture? Do you even have a welder? ( I shudder when reading the talk about welding the tube structure on that previous thread). To start on a major restoration to AIRWORTHY condition the simple basics to me have not even been met yet. My personal experience that starting from ground zero you will need at least 100k before you should even start touching the plane with a tooth brush and soap. Please tell me there is more to this than meets the eye.

Well now I can put another poster on my "ignore posts from this member" list. On the bright side, this post just made it into my "top five all time worst WIX posts" list. It has to be the most arrogant and ignorant post I have seen on WIX in the last five years. It's not even funny or controversial, it's just offensive and stupid.

Excellent you do that. I doubt you have much to add to the discussion anyways. How many aircraft have you restored to flying condition astixjr?? You must clearly have an upper hand to dismiss my concerns/criticisms. Then again, if you had seen some of the Pm's I got about the project you would know that I am spot on with my assessment.
Anyways, thanks Spanner for the update. I guess the owner took my advice a year ago and finally built a fixture.

Septrepair,
One thing about WIX, is the variety of experience of both the lurkers and posters. What is unfortunate is the continuous mud slinging, most without any substance to back them up. While it may be true that you have recieved "numerous Pm's " that might give you a certain opinion, others are not privy to those, therefore do not have that information. in this particular cases you are talking to (astizjr) someone that i can say problably has more knowledge on these subjects than you are giving credit for, and there in is the problem. I believe a little research into whom is going to be on the receiving end of the flame might help with future apologys :-)
I am sure Albert will chime in, we are not close, having made one aircraft deal between us, but he and his dad have a "A" list musem and rare collection of aircraft and i support what he has done for Vintage and Classic aircraft.
getting the thread back on track, i hope Chris is able to live his dream of bringing MW404 back to flyable condition. i have been restoring a Pilatus P2 for 6 years and before that had a Soko 522, the oddball aircraft take far more patience and scrounging than some of the more reconizable types.

Chris has quite a history here before he was banned for being a complete a-ss-jack!
But rejoined under a new handle (can you really do that :o :P ). Any doubts has to what's
going on with the a/c are reasonable considering his history. I hope he pulls it off and has a safe
and well built flying machine when he's done. We'll see! pop2
Oh and Albert Stix knows a thing or ten about these old flying machines!!

Wow!, What a cool bird. Glad someone is getting after it. Did'nt Doug Arnold own that at one time? Good luck with the rebuild. From the pictures posted it looks as if the lower left wing outboard has issues(Burned perhaps?)You may know Guy Black in England who is pretty savy on Hawker construction. May be worth some conversation with him. Fixtures?....Always. The best with the rebuild.Good luck.

Sure you can, but according to the WIX rules, after your 8th ban, you have to use your real name as your handle. After your 9th ban you have to include your last name too.

Well Soko, I hear what your saying and I appreciate your tone. You clearly understand what it takes. So perhaps next time this Albert guy wants to have a conversation, he can ask where I get my stance from or even better yet send me a PM and explain why he thinks my position is wrong. But to come out and attack my statement as stupid or ignorant without knowing all the facts in itself makes himself look "stupid". Anyways, I'm not going to get into a mudslinging match with this guy. I don't know him and he doesn't know me. Since he has me on ignore, the problem is solved. As you were everyone.
