The bombers are in New Smyrna Beach after completing a very successful 2012 season, the Hellcat center section receiving attention, and the FW is being inventoried. That is all...

Photo #2 looks like the ultimate game of 'Go Fish' What's the story on the white G-21 in the background?

So, not much going on then. pop2

I saw on Facebook that it looked like there were a couple of Avengers down at American Aero too. Quite an Airforce they have down there. :drink3:

If it was mentioned before , I had not seen it, but ,is the F.W. 190 in the photo the same one that was at the Kissimmee Air Museum. I took a photo of the wing and jig in April 2011 at Kissimmee and the photo in this thread sure looks to be the same. How many wing jigs for a FW 190 could there be in Florida? It will be great when this FW 190 is complete. I wanted to get to New Smyrna Beach but just didn't have time with Sun-N-Fun ,Fantasy Of Flight, Kissimmee, grandkids and Wally World and the storm that shot one day.

There are a couple other projects at American Aero that I really don't know too much about. The Goose looks like a basic IRAN, I want to say that it is ready to go and waiting on the owner to pick it up. There are 2 Avengers receiving attention but nothing major. The White 1 project transfered to the CF this summer and work will begin once the bombers are out of annual.

Jim, where will we be seeing the Wildcat and A-36 this year? On tour or staying close to Stow? Or elsewhere?

The Wildcat and A-36 are available for airshows, along with all the other Foundation aircraft. It is most likely that the B-25 will be heading to American Aero this summer for some TLC.

The wildcat is based here at headquarters in Stow. It is in the hangar and can be seen during any of our open house weekends in 2013. There will be 3 open house weekends with the first one being June 15-16. It may also make some air show appearances in the area based on demand.

The A-36 is based nearby, but there is not enough runway here in Stow (yet) for it to be based right here. It did some flyovers as part of the WWII battle reenactment in October, and it will be appearing at air shows in the New England area based on demand. With so few P-51's based in this part of the country, I suspect there will be some demand, but not sure how much yet.

Are there any plans to repaint the heavies at some point in the future? The B-24 usually seems to change markings every 7 years or so, and the B-17 has carried the same basic paint job since the late 80s. Not that I'm complaining..far from it! Just curious.

@Steve, no, no plans for paint for this year. We, the crew, would love to see them painted but it takes alot of money to paint a bomber and its just not in the budget.

In Jim's photos at American Aero, the paint on the B-17 looks very weathered and worn. You know what? I love it!!! What an authentic look it has!!!

Oh I agree..both the 24 and 17 look fantastic as-is. I'd much rather see the money go to keeping them in the sky than making them all purty and shiny.

I believe that s/n 1084 is basically all white and it was recently sold and re-registered from N119AA to N121SR and now belongs to Loren Lynn Florey (Jr.) in New Smyrna Beach. It is my understanding that it was also recently worked on by Harry Stenger down in Bartow, FL. Not sure what the new owners' plans for it are but I found some really curious and interesting facts about his personal history when I looked him up online.
