Am curious as to how the Intrepid, it's aircraft, and the Space Shuttle Enterprise which is in a glorified tent....

The planes at the Martin Museum in Middle River are right on the "firing line", too. I believe the Mauler was recently brought back inside (BillB24 would know more about this plane). Jack Kosko's hangar directly in the middle of the storm's path, too.

I get sick queasy just thinking about what might happen to the Enterprise in that tent if the worst comes as the news is saying it will.
Lots of priceless aircraft in the path of this storm. DC won't get the brunt of it, but it's going to get hit hard and I'm concerned about the Mall and Dulles museums for obvious reasons. There might be two orbiters tossed around by this storm...

The NASM museums are pretty solid, and certainly away from any kind of flood waters. Maybe some roof leaks, but that would be the extent of the damage. So far, we've been getting 40 to 50 mph winds with gusts just under 60 mph.

Not good at the Intrepid, Enterprise's cacoon has deflated already:

The VFM crew got a note from Jerry Yagen yesterday, saying that all of MAM's aircraft were safely tucked away in hangars, including the B-17.

Oh so that's why it should have gone to a facility that could put it indoors.

Ok, I hope I'm not crossing a political line here but right now 'd hope that in the event that Romney is elected the next Administrator of NASA will repo Enterprise over this, fix her up for a piggyback flight (the SCA only dropped Endeavour off a few weeks ago, so should still be in flyable condition) and send her to some place capable of caring for her.

Like NMUSAF. Or barring that barging her down to NASA Johnson in Houston.
