I believe it is an ADF antenna.

Speaking of racing planes turned into warbirds...what's next..."Conquest One" turned back into a stock Bearcat? :D

At least Clay Lacy's "Snoopy" #64 is still purple...anyone hav recent photos?

I guess now the P-39 registered as N40A is now at the Kalamazoo Air Zoo, according to the FAA.

Took these back in Early August at Bozeman, MT. The Skycrane stopped for fuel and had flown over our hotel a few minutes before. It was on it's way to fight the fires in Northern MT!

First off, I apologize for the horrible picture quality. I scaned these from original photos on matt paper.

I think this qualifies hands down for the fastest civilian aircraft ever. N844NA, aka, NASA 844, or SR-71 980. I was at Edwards AFB Oct 1999 for its final flight. Not much of a difference between military and NASA.

The movie Dr. Strangelove was filmed by IGN B-17 44-85643 F-BEEA - this photo shows her landing after a shoot with the logo of the film on her nose. Not as glamorous as some of the color shots in this thread but a very historic photo nonetheless.

Yes, both were owned by the Hughes Empire. Howard Hughes actually flew the A-20, and never set foot in the B-25
