The FAA reg number shows it was registered to the Cavanaugh Museum in March of 2009, so they've had it a while.

My dad flew "Shrimp Boats" out of Hickam AFB with the 76th ARS...along with C-54's, SB-29's, and H-19's. I think his fondest stories are in the Albatross though. I think he would agree with you...and might even toss in a few bucks to make that happen!

Donated to the museum a couple of years ago. Just gone through inspection program, after a long wait for the appropriate paperwork, etc. It has been residing at "Cavanaugh South" with the Caribou, but they have both been moved up to the museum to make space for "Ol 927" and "Fifi".

theres 2 albatros at Chino at the present time.I'll take pics tomorrow and post them. The first time I went to the Reno air races (2003/04?) we stopped in Carson City ,Nevada. someone had atleast 5 Albatrosses parked there. I love the Albatross ,its a great plane.

Neat! I wish someone would interview guys like yor dad and do a book. I'm sure there are great stories out there.

If I could go back in time to do something avaition related, flying for the ARS would be it.
H-19s, Albatrosses....great stuff.

There is one Albatross flying with USAF markings, I'd add to that if I had the money.

The USAF MATS ARS doesn't get enough credit, thay had bases all over the world and saved a lot of civilians...those guys did God's work.
