Yup, Taigh and the gang are GREAT! Heck they are like family now to us ground crew types, we all have the same sick sense of humor.

Thanks for the kind words you all. We appreciate it!

That is a good question Gary. We have been going back and forth on this for a while now. We have had many suggestions like "The Eleventh Hour" from Marty Hall, A great guy from Everts Air who was instrumental in letting us have the Harpoon. He thought it was fitting because we saved her at the 11th hour. Then the gang thought "Sweet D" was a good name because Ken has a great WWII tattoo by that name which refers to his wife and also fits our D model. There have been many names offered up but just like painting her in the three tone scheme I am reluctant to paint her up with a scheme or name she never carried. She did have a simple 062 on the nose and I think I need to stick with just what she had from the factory. Plain and boring I know but authenticity has to prevail. There is no better nose for artwork as the Harpoon has more flat nose area than a billboard. Oh well, 062 will have to do.

Gary you are always welcome to come fly with us. I could use your expertise in getting our tail gear to retract once again

Were looking for a good hangar to paint her. It looks like we might have a great facility being offered so keep your fingers crossed.

Slinky,

The shirts are available now as are the stickers. I think they can fit in a small flat rate box so $24 shipped in the US should work. The Harpoon and all of us thank you for your support.

Tom,

Nice to hear from you. Thank you too for the nice words. Are you ready to go to OSH again only this time in the Harpoon? We are hoping to take the Beech and the Harpoon to Thunder Over Michigan and then to Oshkosh. Should be a blast. If you know anyone who wants to go have them get in touch with me. Looks like we will have two houses around the lake this year.

Scott,

You guys are the best. I can't wait to put torpedo camp together. Now we just need a deck to swab and some torpedo's to dam(sp)!

On the t-shirts, would this be the address to send my payment?

VINTAGE AIRCRAFT

7432 C.E. DIXON STREET

STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA USA 95206

Thanks Taigh, I envy the work and planes you guys are saving, esp the Harpoon, my dream plane.... Wish I lived closer, I'd love to be part of it. I'm stuck with my beloved 66 GCAA! Only time they were ever a warbird was as an L birds for Turkey! They had an interesting paint scheme though!!!!

Will do! Today I'm using my A&P skills on a Massey Ferguson 65....What is it that drives us to save these diamonds in the rough? My friend Mark had to save the nose section from Austin Acres for his museum here in Okc....You guys have brought many hulks to life...If more people took this attitude with hulks around the world just think what could be saved from the scrapper!

You have no idea how wonderful those few words sound to me! Keep up the good work and kudos to EVERYONE involved with this resurrection.

Taigh,

Do you have a PayPal account setup for your museum?

Scott,

Thanks for that. I am definitely in the minority on this one so I appreciate the support!

Ryan,

I have just set up a paypal account for the museum at

Image

I am still trying to talk the owner of stocktonfield.org out of the domain name so we can set up a dedicated web site and get away from twinbeech.com.

Incidentally, I talked to your Dad a few days ago about your Harpoon. If you all need any help just ask as we have been leaping through the PV-2 learning curve a lot lately and maybe we can help you all get your Harpoon up and going. We also have a bunch or parts available too.

Thanks Ryan

I appreciate the external pressure to paint a warbird in an incorrect scheme (from experience...) and I fully support what you're doing, Taigh.

Just to be sure to clear up any misconceptions; I like nose art on Warbirds whether they carried it or not so please understand that I am not trying to step on anyone's toes. This is my simple preference for our project. Your mileage may vary

Taigh,
If the PV-2D's were only dark blue THEN paint it the correct color. I'm with you too!
