I heard that there is a contract upcoming for the army? Is there a chance to see other jet warbirds working in Canada......in addition to the ALpha Jets?

..... the basis of the post was that CF-5s were coming back to life...anybody hear about this? That would be exciting, the F-5 says fast even just sitting on the ground.

That would be so cool if they did that! I haven't heard anything about this though...

I heard there's a new request for bids for the CATS (contracted airborne training services) contract to provide combat support services for the Canadian Forces. Sounds like it could be a fairly lucrative contract as it can be up to 20 years. I have no idea who's bidding and what's required as far as aircraft specs but I wonder if any of the T-33 guys will bid on it seeing the Silverstars provided combat support services before they were retired. And that would be very much like the Canadian government, hire back the planes that you sold! Maybe we'll see T33driver Paul in his CT-133 being chased by CF-18's over Primrose weapons range or being tracked as a hostile by a frigate off the west coast!!

In the past I've seen Alpha Jets, Mig 21, A-4's and Hunters doing contract work for the Canadian Armed Forces so it'll be interesting who gets the contract and what they'll be flying. Gotta love those classic jets!

One would think that it would be easier and less risky to Canada, to hire Bombardier to do this stuff since they already operate the Hawk in MooseJaw. With all do respect to the classic jets, there has to be a difference between operating them commercially vers as a warbird (reliability, maintenance parts etc....). :?:
