Very Very sad news!!!

I've been out of town and just read what happened. I can't beleive it. I met Gary a couple years back when I was moving from CA to NC. I made it a point to swing by the Midland hanger and see Ol'927. Gary was the first person to meet me at the door and with that large smile of his. I never felt so welcome. He let me look at everything in the hanger. It was a great day, thanks to Gary. I have read this entire post and agree with what everyone has said. Gary will be missed. I feel that with his posts on WIX, we all have learned more about Warbirds and how to work on them. I know I have.

THANK YOU GARY AND GOD SPEED!!!!!!

Just a few minutes before noon and the start of the Memorial service for Gary, which of course I could not attend. But I am here raising a glass to you Gary, your life, and everyone that you touched in your time on this earth. Godspeed.

I know what you mean, I worked at Gary Tower earlier, and as I walked into the break room of the tower, there were pictures of Diamond Lil on the wall.

The Yellow Rose had to head to Randolph this morning, but we had a gaggle of aircraft ready to launch for Midland to attend Gary's service. Unfortunately we were zero, zero until late in the morning, so the Rose was late getting to Randolph, and the Midland mission had to be scrubbed, but we had our own little memorial here anyway.

Very moving. May the wind always be at your tail. Blue skies Gary. I hope Fifi,Ole 927 and all the aircraft he worked on, live on as a testament to this great man. We are all human, and as such we are flawed. Most of us will just fade into the ether, but Gary will be remembered through his work. Lest We Forget.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
