Just saw this Yak for sale on Barnstormers. Does anyone know which airframe this is? Modified Yak-11 or..?

It would be easier, but where's the fun in that...

Brandon, that's the right ad, thanks. Unfortunately the serial # doesn't say anything about what kind of airframe it started as. Most likely a Yak-11 donor though.

Here's some info on the lineage of serial #002. The Barnstormer.com example for sale is #004 from the same company.

Got that one right away thats BVI in Beaver Falls PA. Its a hang out for US Air guys out of Pitt. And I know the guy you want this airplane you better have deep deep pockets. Hes been wheeling and dealing all sorts of stuff over the years not that there's anything wrong with that. Just another US Air liner pilot with half a month off and nothing else to do.

Bill Burdis P&W R-1830 powered Yak-3 UPW. These were new aircraft built in Romania, Bill's being partially assembled there and the rest done ( with some problems) once in the US. Engine is from a DC-3. Been for sale for some time.
Full article on UPWs was done in Issue 48 of the Classic Wings Yak feature which covered the Yak-3, 11 and UPW.
