I had the privilege of filming the last flight of the C-133 last summer. Here is a comp of some of the footage. Love the sound of this plane!

Pretty exciting flight, too! The last two minutes reminded me of some of my Air Force "Dial-A-Disaster" emergency procedures simulator sessions. They get a "wing overheat" light while on final, AND tower tells them to go around because they have traffic on the runway. Bummer. What else could go wrong? ;-)

Nice to have the fire crews spraying cool water over your airplane if you've just had a wing overheat, though. Good timing.

There aren't many of those left out of (I think) 50 produced. I guess the 130 gave them more bang for the buck. The 130 couldn't carry as much but could just about get into and out of anyplace. Great to see a 50 year old still flying though.

I still don't understand the "over heated wing" emergency depicted in the film? Was this a angine heat/fire light?

Very neat footage! I have not heard a C-133 before. Gsheff, there is a definite B-36/Tu-95 sound to it, thanks to those big props no doubt. I'll bet the XB-35 sounded similar.

A C-133 (not sure if it was tihs one or not) used to come into PIT alot when I was in the tower. The tower had sound proof glass, and the thing would still rumble the windows.

In this video you can see a puff of smoke from the right inboard engine about 12 seconds in:

I suspect this was a pneumatic bleed-air duct overheat, or something similar. Such a situation can be very serious if not sorted out quickly. A duct leak can burn right through critical parts of an airplane. Hence the tension exhibited by the flight engineer.

Glad it all worked out OK.

Great video! THANX-
It is sad, poigniant, and hurtful to watch a propeller come to a stop forever isn't it?
