Greetings...as a follow-on to the

Im going to call Archie at the USAF Records Dept at Maxwell for more info...but wondered if any of my WIX colleagues would know much about this bird.

F-105B-15RE 57-5792 - Zanesville Municipal Airport, Zanesville, Ohio

The airport manager thought it came from North Carolina...

I think we are going to start on this aircraft with the desired outcome to be similar to the KVTA Newark Ohio

Hey there Rick H...any G2 from the Collings Group on F-105s is welcome...

I will put a new post out there but wanted to check some F-105 Wixers first!

I don't know, but I fly through there every so often. I will try to remember and ask around next time I'm there for a fuel stop. Might be there within a couple of weeks.

Bump - just to make the thread a little easier to find along with the new inquiries.

So I went through Snyder again today on a fuel stop. Seems the flying museum is totally disbanded and the planes are likely to be scrapped. I got a phone number for someone to talk to about them and I'm thinking of calling him in a day or two. They are in pretty sad shape.

Such a shame :( I really hope someone rescues these two. They would make great statics. And wasn't the Collings Foundation looking for F-105's with no government strings attached?

Ok, so some of the info was probably not accurate. It doesn't sound like they are in immediate danger of being scrapped, but there was a hangar supposed to be built that is still in paperwork limbo down in Austin and the volunteer base has dropped of to almost nothing. The contact I was given said he really hopes they end up somewhere where they can be restored properly.

If somehow we could get the F101 to Ohio that would be great...they used to be here at Lockbourne AFB and would make for a great sister next to the restored F-4 at Newark Heath east of Columbus...
