P-82 going Bye Bye!! A very sad day at the CAF!

I guess that I was lucky enough to get to see this Bird fly down in the Valley ..................and sadly I saw it get BENT up that same weekend. I for one joined the Confederate AirForce at 19 years of age for the Very reason that They were one of the very few groups that Did anything at all to save our History ! The Rebels were saving in some cases one of a kind from the smelters :cry:

.Now that their is a interests in the Aircraft the Goverment seems fit to take em all back. basicly Thanks for the 40 Years for nothing !

Now the CAF is Getting BENT ( To all Museums WATCH OUT this is only a taste of what is to come !

Posession is 9/10s of the law. Surely after 40 years it can't hurt to let it sit for another year until the appeals are complete. I guess giving up on this frees up more time to beat up on the units...

Oh great, Is the air force going the route of the NAVY. And I was IN NAVY AIR for 12 years, Whats next, Are they going to get C&P's 82 also?

One would think the Air Force would get its priorities straight and focus the time and effort on more important things like... oh say... fighting a two-front war? :idea:

I agree that this does suck buttttttt it is good to hear (if I am reading this correctly) that the lawsuit will now continue. One can hope that maybe the airforce will get there knuckles slapped in the end. At least now there is a still a slim hope that it will fly again, as opposed to the offer the the USAFM rejected.

From this day on I will endeavor to ignore the USAF Museum. I will vote with my feet and send my donations elsewhere.

I was thinking the exact same thing when I read this notice!

The Navy has recently made noises like their going to mellow-out and be co-operative as the USAF used to be.
Now the USAF does a 180 and gets all medieval Navy on us! WTF :shock:

I would great ly encourage some that have some of the stronger statements to remember that this was a decision through the USAF Board, and officials, not the men and women of the museum at Dayton. The support and donations that come to that museum help get aircraft preserved and restored like the Swoose and the Memphis Belle. Some here know only some of the story, while others know all of it. I hoped that the museum would allow the CAF to keep the P-82 there, but the board felt that there were many reasons to move it.
