The most distinct/loudest whistle on Mustangs comes about when the two inboard gun tubes/extensions are present and of authentic dimensions, which produce the loudest/most distinct whistle/howl, and to a somewhat lesser degree the four outboard protruding gun barrels. All of that is so on Cruise's Mustang. (Of course a couple of the factors contributing to some producing a louder whistle than others could be the angle at which the guns are mounted and the balance/trim of the aircraft).

He was doing a carrier break type approach. It was whistling like crazy straight and level and in a banking turn. His engine sounded really good too. More of a deep throated growl...

Does anyone know what the new name is on Cruise's Mustang? (I am assuming that he changed it from his ex-wife's name  )

It wasn't too long after they split, several years ago, that the name artwork was removed or painted over, and it has remained without a name or nose art ever since. Here are a couple photos taken just recently (it's a great looking paint scheme as is - one of just three Mustangs flying today originally built as K-models, the others being "Fragile but Agile" and "Frenesi"):

This afternoon I saw a A-26 East bound at 4500' around 3pm. I'm just South of the Midway Airport (KJWY). I saw Tom Cruise's Mustang down at Stallion 51 in August, as John mentioned it looks really sharp.

Saw the NASA B377 Super Guppy flying on Thursday while I was in Houston for a day and forgot to post about it. Haven't yet seen if the pic came out.

After the airshow today at our local Minden Tahoe Airport KMEV I saw B-25J Executive Sweet and P-51D Man O' War take off to give rides and return. The Blue Angels also put on a heck of a show as did all the performers with the weather being CAVU. I look forward to watching tomorrow's show from our rear deck which is 2-3/4 miles from the runway and about 300' higher elevation.

The Blue Angels have been beating up the neighborhood this afternoon. Looks like they're done for the day... all 6 in formation went overhead on the way to the barn a while ago. Wings Over Houston this weekend!

Saw the Airborne Demonstration Team's C-47 "Wild Kat" today when they dropped in on their way from Tulsa to Frederick because of weather at FDK.

I saw Gunfighter this morning giving a ride over my house, then FiFi rolled by. Beth Jenkins flew over in Devil Dog this afternoon and FiFi was up with 3 Mustangs and then departed to the East for what looked like a PPC, stalls and steep turns, etc. I can't wait for this weekend...

Today and the Lancaster Airport, Trey Carroll, Greg Morehead, myself and a few others helped Mark Todd launch The Cavanaugh Flight Museum AD-6 Skyraider. What an aircraft!

No doubt! One autumn just before dusk, back about 2007 I was out in the yard working, but was stopped and drawn to look north hearing a very brutish melodious rumble preceding an aircraft like a bow wave. Soon a Skyraider popped into view about 500'(seemed a lot lower) rumbling home straight down 13th Street over Bacliff, Texas 2 blocks west of the water tower. Effffingg AWWsoommee! Presumably Rick Sharpe heading back to the barn in Galveston after a show...

Wifey and I spent the weekend in Clearwater Beach. On Saturday, about noon, I saw an A-4 Skyhawk, wearing green and brown camo, departing the Tampa Bay area and heading south along the coastline. A few minutes later, a US Coast Guard C-130 passed by heading north, then turned inland toward the Tampa area (there is a USCG base there).
