Had a couple of helicopters fly by my house this morning on their way to Tri Cities Airport (KTRI).

An Apache flew over about 10:15 am.

Followed by the distinctive sound of a Huey about 30 minutes later.

Flight of 2, T-28's. One in Navy red/white training scheme, the other overall dark blue. Headed North, towards KRDU @ 8,000' or so.

In Decatur Texas, looked like an L-29, fairly high up, headed towards Dallas. In other words south east. Straight wings and tip tanks, but I don't think it was a T-33.

Any ideas?

John

Bright yellow biplane taking off from Hidden Valley Airpark just before sunset. Could have been a Stearman or an N3N, couldn't tell from my brief glimpse at a distance. Nice!!!

(edited because of Ober's comment below)

A pair of CH-47 Chinooks just flew over, heading slightly northwest. Any ideas as to where they might be headed or where they are based?

I spent the afternoon outside today and was able to get some photos of several different aircraft.

That pair of CH-47 Chinooks that kalamazookid saw flew over Bristol at about 12:35 pm where I grabbed a photo of one of them passing.

Image

Also saw a number of passenger jets on approach to KTRI.

And a 747 passing overhead at cruising altitude leaving behind a beautiful contrail.

Looking @ the length of the tube, my guess is an A-340 not one of Everetts finest.

Agree with Inspector. Looks like an A340-500, probably Lufty (Lufthansa) from the paint.

Watched a Lear jet land and taxi over to the National Guard area. Could not see who was on board. I'm sure it was someone very "important"! :drinkers:

May have been moving a patient. Most of the C-21's are used for Medivac nowdays. DV transport is usually in one of the Gulfstreams.

A very dark-colored T-38 Talon taking off from Alliance.
A P-51 Mustang taking off from Meacham. (okay, I heard it but didn't see it from inside the hangar)
A really pretty aqua and white 1950s Piper Apache taking off from Meacham. What a classic! 8)
A pair of SIAI Marchetti SF.260s taking off from Meacham in formation.

Not a bad day. . . :D

Local newspaper says that a B-17 and B-25 landed at the Erie-Ottawa County Regional airport on Monday. Thought I seen them flying but while driving down the road was hard to keep an eye on them. Sure was nice to see them gearing up for the upcoming season. I believe they are the Yankee's 'birds :drink3:

Saw what appeared to be a Ventura flying overhead near Marine Corp. Air Station Miramar. That and the usual array of hardware, Hornets, Ospreys, C 130's and stuff.

While I was unable to get a picture I had a V-22 fly over my neck of the woods, southeastern PA. It was up high, moving quick, and headed southwest. I have no clue where it was coming from or headed to. NAS Pax is about 200 miles south of me.
