This civilian Sea King was doing some heavy lifting locally this morning.

B-25D, 43-3318, aka "Grumpy".

If fact, I flew in it during a flyby for a local University Football game, as a salute to Veterans. Another flight is scheduled for Nov. 11 to do flyovers at events and at the state Veterans cemetery.

I can personally attest to the noise level in the cockpit, a pretty good draft, and when lightly loaded, a very short take off run.

So, that adds to my warbird (active duty a.c. or retired) log...

Two national guard Chinooks went past our place on Sunday. I rode on these in active duty, so it was almost silly that I would bother taking photos of any of them...

We had a couple of A-10s flying around last Friday. Not sure what they were here for, but they made multiple low passes over where my office is and I was able to see them in a bank from my window.

On of the Tora Zeros flew over my house at 10;45 probably heading to Conroe (CXO) from Hooks (DWH).Thanks,I love that sound.

I'm 98% certain I had a BT-13 pass overhead at about 1500 ft AGL yesterday evening. Silhouetted against late afternoon sky so I couldn't see any distinguishing markings but the long greenhouse and unspatted MLG were unmistakable along with the sound. None of those are locally based unless its very recent. Will keep paying attention. CDF S-2T's will be here very soon and the new CDF Firehawk should be days away also-based at the regional CDF HQ south of Willits CA and not at the local Air Attack Base.

The UK had four B-52s from Minot AFB deployed to RAF Fairford for a few weeks during March/April. Living in southern London there seemed little chance to see them as pairs went off on lengthy missions up to northern Norway, the eastern end of the Mediterranean, providing moral support to the Ukrainians with sorties over Poland and Romania, etc. Several times they did fly over London when I was looking the other way so to speak. However, to my great delight one did pass down the eastern side of London one morning several weeks ago and showed up beautifully against a very high thin overcast - magic! Unfortunately the second aircraft had a problem and took off much later, taking a more direct route down to the Med. Great to see 'em, unbelievable that they are a year or two older than me yet may well still be in service when I pop my clogs.

Never heard that expression before, I guess it's the equivalent of the American phrase "Kick the bucket."

Spot on Scott, definitely a very British phrase of uncertain origin, used to be quite a common expression. (I haven't got any clogs but I do have several buckets to choose from when the time comes - hopefully not for a long time yet though, I plan to give the Buffs a good run for their money!)

While I did not see it (yet) Mosquito N9871F showed up on ADSB Exchange departing Biggs AAF. I heard and tracked it last week fly over my house and landing at Biggs. What brings a Mosquito to an Army Air Field?

You sure about that N-number? Is there another flyable Mosquito that I was completely unaware of?

N9871F is an ex CAF Mosquito RG300, the vestigial remains of which are apparently with James Dearborn in Germantown, TN. Suspect the wrong hex code is being used by an Army helicopter operating out of Biggs...

I believe you are correct. I watched it on ADSB for some time last night and the speeds was always too slow and the track showed it landing in the desert several times. That was also after dusk and I can not imagine a warbird would be flying at that time.

This is the screen capture of today's "Mosquito". At this point I strongly suspect it is an Army, or Army contract helo that for whatever reason somehow mimics the information for N9871F. The aircraft flying from Biggs tend to use the 46XX squawk.
