I stopped by the Medford Airtanker Base around noon today.

Lots of scaffolding and ladders around Tanker 62's outboard starboard engine.

Not much going on.

All the airtankers at MFR were on the ground, but joined by a new, but, familiar face: Erickson Aero Tanker 66.

I drove 60 miles to Klamath Falls then back to Ashland... I avoided the fire line.

KFalls is just as smokey there as in the Rogue Valley.

Last I heard, the fire was larger than 3,200 acres.

After forty years in aviation including 8 in the USAF, this was a first for me. Sitting on the patio of my mother-in-law's home in Lincoln, CA. drinking my morning coffee, I heard a jet flying slowly overhead and when I stepped out from the overhang looked up to see the distinctive outline of a U-2!

On my way to work this morning, just before 0700 hours, I saw what I believe to be a Tiger Moth on final to runway 17 at Aero Country Airport, just east of McKinney, Texas. It was truly a "Dawn Patrol" flight... it really was dawn, with the sun just a smidgen above the horizon! I almost lost control of my Mustang trying to get a better look at the classic bipe as it passed directly over me!

We were driving through Pennsylvania yesterday, and saw a large aircraft cruising low and slow. It was too far away to get a good look, but I'm pretty sure it was "Witchcraft." I checked the Collings Foundation website, and sure enough the Wings of Freedom tour was in Altoona.

Well what a bummer!!! ... Couldn't take a photo quick enough.

Ran outside to see what the noise was, looked up and less than a thousand feet roaring over the ranch was a formation consisting of a BMF B-25 and what looked to be a citation jet. Relatively slow. Think I'll drive over to the Santa Ynez airport to see if they were heading there or over the range to Santa Barbara.

On Sunday while we we're setup at ComiConn in Bridgeport at Webster Area, a Sikorsky MH-60 Jayhawk made pretty low pass right over the arena. Unexpected and awesome.

Actually it was yesterday; saw the NASA WB-57. He was probably 3 - 4K up & heading west toward Downtown H-town.
