The Merlin X engines tell us this was a Mark II, of which 400 were produced.

Interesting shot Jack. Any more info on the 'Malta' bit? The mud and lack of tropical kit worn by the 'erks' make me suspect it may have been taken somewhere a bit cooler, but I'm happy to be proved wrong on that.

Interesting, isn't it? However I'm pretty sure it's Malta as the Bren Gun Carrier is painted in the famous (and unique) Malta camouflage - I don't recall examples of that anywhere but the Maltese islands.
