Yep, same thing happened to our unit here in Houston, same kind of success rate in Iraq with the F-16s, come home take the jets away, send most of the personnel packing and give the remainder Predators.

I feel safer !

Vlado, think how much easier it will be to only have one type aircraft on the boats ! You'll have the F/A 18 A,B,C,D,E,F,G, and I'm sure that there is an S-18 coming down the pipe to replace the S-3 !

Rick - I agree that the mix of fixed wing aircraft in the Navy is becoming decidely LESS interesting......Hornets, Super Hornets, Growlers, etc.

The F-35C will help a little but NOT much......



I hope that an S-3 eventually makes it to flying warbird status - it would make a nice formation with an S-2.

I seriously doubt it. The military is bad about not wanting capable airframes being flown by the public. Look at the US military jet warbirds out there now, and except for the Collings F-4, all of them (I believe) were put together from parts scanvenged from the wrecking yards around AMARC.

I may be wrong (wouldn't be the first time), but I don't believe AMARC has sold complete jet combat or training aircraft directly to the public.

As far as the S-3, I'm going to miss that wierd Hoover sound of those twin fans spooling up!

Cougar, don't forget the CF TA-4. It's the only Skyhawk to come out in one piece from US Govt stock.
