Nope, no photos..the P-40 is under about 10 feet of mud and is filled
with mud. There is a lot of sketchy speculation and conflicting info
as to why the Lake Dianchi recovery has been stalled. The most logical
reason I've read..is the Chinese crews have have "stepped back" to
give more thought to the raising of the Warhawk without destroying it.
Which is more intelligent that what ocurred with the Lake Washington
silt-filled PBM, here in the states. The next "go" date looks like
late-summer,2005....which will co-incide with the 60th anniversary of
the end of WW2.
Get out the submersible pumps and firehoses...
Other intriguing thoughts about THIS P-40 and Lake Dianchi...They are
not sure whether this is Blackburns or Coles, P-40. When looking
for this aircraft they were hindered by the fact that this lake is littered
with numerous wrecks...
...everybody..hand Harvard IV his luggage.....
