The B-26 and the Bermuda from ESAM.

I e-mailed the curator of the ESAM about the Bermuda and the B-26.
He said (WITHOUT MY ASKING HIM) that the B-26 "is not at Pima."
He also said that the loans on these two aircraft expired and he doesn't know where the Brewster is. He did not say where the B-26 is.

Just thought I'd let you know.

Col Rohr.-- That's just what he said. I didn't ask him where the Marauder was, just asked its current condition. He told me it wasn't at Pima without my asking him.

Dave--it stands for Empire State Aerosciences Museum. The B-26 has been under restoration there for several years.

I'm the Assistant Curator at Pima. I can assure you that the Marauder and Bermuda are both at Pima. I have no idea why the person at ESAM would think they are somewhere else.

Correct me if I'm wrong.....but I think the B-26 at ESAM was just one of Tallichet's C nose sections. Kermit Weeks has one of them. These are the two nose sections that came from the NAA engineer in Pacific Pallisades who tried to convert them into a motorhome....He got as far as bolting both sections together and putting wheels on them. Tallichet got them in 1984. One of the noses (I think the one Kermit has) was only four serial numbers away from the CAF's airplane that crashed.

It's actually one of the three "Million Dollar Valley" aircraft recovered back in the '70s - one is airworthy with Kermit Weeks and the other is under restoration with MAPS at Canton.

I only went to ESAM once, in 1997, and the complete fuselage was being worked on then

Did he have more than just nose sections of the C models? In the early 80s I remember seeing at Chino a B-26 rear fuselage with Japanese markings and fake bulletholes (probably ex-movie studio).

Yes that was the movie nose....he had three of them. Thanks for the correction. One of the noses of the three aircraft was destroyed during the Million Dollar Crash....so are they bolting one of the C model noses onto the third fuselage? I seem to remember that was what was being done, and I did see a pic of one of those noses at ESAM.

Tomorrow I will be going to the Pima Air Museum where I volunteer. I will take current pix of the B-26 (as of tomorrow) and post them tomorrow nite. There is MORE than just a nose. The Bermuda is also there in storage. I have posted pix in the past on this forum showing both of these aircraft. I will post new pix of the Bermuda tomorrow nite.

I also posted a list of the other Tallichet aircraft at the museum a short while back. I will take current pix of these also.
