B-29A Waddy's Wagon Gets Her Nose Art

Capt Waddy Young and "Dammit" along with (on top) Lt Vetters-CP, Sgt Chapman-GNR, Lt Garrison-Nav, Sgt Lee-GNG, SSgt Gatto-GNR, SSgt Mansir-Radio. (on ground) Lt Ellis-B, Lt Black-Radar, Sgt Avon-Radio and Sgt Carnegie-GNR watch Cpl Lindsay Decker finsih the artwork on their B-29A. They were MIA Jan. 9, 1945.

For some reason I thought I remember seeing a pic of them acting like the nose art.

I believe the photo you're referring to is in Birdsall's book, Chris. I've got an image of it somewhere in the attic.

Confirmed, it's in Birdsall's Saga of the Superfortress page 139. Sad they didn't survive the war.

Waddy Young was a All-American football player and also played baseball for the Brooklyn Dodgers.
