I wrote to Eagle Squadron ace Roy Evans 4 years ago and at the time got a nice letter and a few photos in reply. Out of the blue today, I got a package from him with a half or dozen or so 8X10s and a handwritten letter. He had gone through his records and wasn't sure he had replied to me originally.

In his letter he states that when the squadron transitioned from the RAF to USAAF for a while they were ordered to wear all wings and awards. They wore RAF wings (and his silver medallion) over the right breast pocket and US wings over the left. Mr. Evans has tried without success to find out when the RAF wings were no longer a requirement. I thought I'd try to find an answer for him here. If anyone knows please let me know, thanks.
