Also, both the B-25 and the A-26 look silver in those nice color photos. Were they really silver? Or were they white, and it's just that the photos have some age that make them look silver?

Thanks...

Yes, they were both painted silver. My uncle has/had a 8mm that my Dad took back in the mid sixties of a show at Old Rebel Field. My cousin was pulling bird nests out of the B-25 so they could fly it. My Dad also got some film of Lefty flying the P-38 below the second story of the "O club". They weren't very good as he thought you had to lead the airplane like shooting a gun! They flew a Minn. ANG C-97 down to Harlingen and got escorted by Lloyd Nolen flying a Bearcat off their wing doing slow rolls, smoking his pipe. Randy Sohn would fly the B-25 and Connie Edwards would fly the A-26.

Found a little better shot of the B-26C, taken at Harlingen, Tx. October 1962. Painted white with black cheat line and rebel flag.

Nice pics, thanks for posting em. Minor nit, the pic just above couldn't have been 1962, as "Carolyn" was still in Mexico with PEMEX as XB-LOX. She was repo'ed by a bank in Greeley CO in October 1967 and sold on to the CAF in Nov 67.

I have some old pics of Carolyn and other scans on my website if anyone is interested.... A neat article in Dispatch as well on "The Bomber Nobody Loves".

I miss that airplane so much, not to mention Tom Vermin Walter and the others....

Correction: Date on the B-26 pictures is 1972 not 1962. My fat fingers. Sorry. John

It's been a absolute kick to boot up each morning and see the latest photos you guys have been digging out of your personal archives! Really great stuff guys, and I sure appreciate your efforts to dig up all these great photos and information on the early CAF years. To me, it's such an interesting time period in warbird history, and anything CAF always makes me smile.

I saw the photos of the Corsair in formation with other CAF birds...does anyone have any other photos specifically of the Corsair in the house colors?

Thanks again for all your efforts :drink3:

Looking at that photo of the white P-40...is that Mike Dillon's P-40? Not sure, but it looks like an -E model to me, so perhaps it is a different P-40? Anyone have any idea which one it is, N-number, etc.?

Thanks...

Yeah the red one (obviously) was the Dillon P40N N1226N it was later painted up in AVG markings as #26. Im at work so I cant look for pics now. I think they were different aircraft (white and red).
