Tulio,
I believe the Spit used to belong to the CAF, Howard Pardue used to demo it at the WOH along with his aircraft. What happened to this plane?
If Bill Word's list is complete the picture has to be from another WOH show because you can see in the background a F7F Tigercat and a FM2 Wildcat and a wing tip from the Junkers. Great show in those days..especially with the 147th flying the F4 Phantoms...I've got a lot of pics from those days too.
Regards, Tom

The Spitfire should not be MH343 at WOH87. This was transposed from another photo list, Breckenridge 1990. The photos from WOH87 are the first and second The tihird is from Breckinridge 1990. I want to thank everybody for correcting my lists.

I shot this photo at WOH 87, I believe.

Tulio,

Your image is MK297/N9BL in the 'Piece of Cake ' livery in 1988...but no sign of the 'MH434' markings.

I believe they were trying to get footage with a Casa/Heinkel 111.

Here, on the 'other side of the pond' is the real MH434 at Duxford for PoC in May 1988. Note small RAF serial under tailplane

That is not Charlie Angels Val unless he painted it right after that picture. His was light grey and was destroyed in the hangar fire. I have one of its wing tips hanging on my wall of shame after in got in a tangle with a P-40 prop in the mid 90s just before it was destroyed in the fire at Conroe.

Thank you, guys.

That photo is an "orphan" of mine, since I do not remember when I took it.

It is also a favorite, because the airplane looks "real" with the rough paint, not shiny, like a true operational ship. I even like the dark edges around the picture!

Saludos,

Tulio

I think the Spit was destroyed in a hangar fire somewhere in Canada.

Wayne, as I explained, Tom Kelley owned it when this photo was taken. Charlie later purchased it from Tom. I was also this flat black scheme when Tom had it based in San Marcos.

Guys, I located the slides from WOH 1989.

That's when I took the photo of the Spitfire; my notes written on the slide's frame read:

Vickers Spitfire Mk II NXBL

I am now sure that I wrote that information when I shot the photo, and registered it later on the slide's frame.

Saludos,

Tulio

That Mustang was owned by Lone Star for a time. I was told that it was sold to Doug Arnold, I believe, when he came to town and bought the Corsair known as Big Hog. We thought it left for England when it disappeared. Some years later we found it sitting in the Champlin maintenance hangar, having never left the states.
