It's way early in the game yet, but I would assume that this may be a static possibility.
Among various requests to ID artifacts found by hunters etc., I have a recent request to look at an airframe and try to do something positive with it. It is just a frame, little else. It was in a thick wooded remote (boat access plus a tough bushwhack) area until recently when Homeland Security added lots of Border Patrol and stations. The area now is rapidly turning into a lakeside housing development for Patrol Agents.
It is currently "salvage" material for the logging contractor clearing the lots and road right of ways. He would like to see a positive outcome. My hopes would be a museum with the resources to make it a display.
This needs saving. A Hurricane is an incredibly difficult machine to restore. The tubing is round section, cold worked at each joint to form a square or rectangular section. The main spar is multifaceted, only two machines exist worldwide to do this. The tail spar is similarly complex but there is a Cranfield I of T design replacement.
I would suggest that interested parties put aside differences and save this baby before it gets trashed.
PS, If I had done a Spit project in place of a Hurri it would have been finished years ago!
