This needs saving. A Hurricane is an incredibly difficult machine to restore. The tubing is round section, cold worked at each joint to form a square or rectangular section. The main spar is multifaceted, only two machines exist worldwide to do this. The tail spar is similarly complex but there is a Cranfield I of T design replacement.

I would suggest that interested parties put aside differences and save this baby before it gets trashed.

PS, If I had done a Spit project in place of a Hurri it would have been finished years ago!

i would say if its only a frame its not worth it, how do you even know its a hurry? its most likely bent and rusted and just a frame, a piece of scrap metal. :roll:

rohr, this peter is probably talking crap anyway & it doesnt look likely he will contact you or anyone, are you sure the hurri even exists? have you seen it? if so just go take it, i would, beats wasting time with people like this :wink:

Neil Rose had a good frame and wings and it took him 29 YEARS to get it flyable. There are some joints in the frame that have 108 parts to it, why didn't just weld it!

I'd agree, you don't have to make it 100% original, just weld the joints, and make it 90% original. It's experimental anyway.
