I can't recall where this occurred. Slightly pre-war I'd gather.

My favorite is the Catholic Action League photo: Must be the source of the little known second half of the age old query :
“ How many angels fit on the head of a pin?”
“ How many nuns fit under the wings of a P-47?”

Those nuns were tiny!!

ETA: Also note the B-25 has continuous dihedral, making it one of the first eight built. Per Baugher, 40-2165 was around until January of '45, and 40-2168 is still with us today, so that narrows it down to six possible a/c (40-2166, 67, and 69 through 72).

Hi Chris,

Great eyes!

I think the home team is at the State Fairgrounds, not the University, which was the station of some "specialized depot" what ever that means. It does look like to me now that they are being "parted out" as need be, note that none of the airframes have engines which I think would be the first to be recycled.

All the best

Tom

Seems to fit the description of the Hayes Mod, but those weren't delivered unti the early 1950s.

Quote:
TB-25L

Under contract with the Hayes Aircraft Company of Birmingham, Alabama, 75 B-25Js were modified for specialized advanced pilot training under the designation TB-25L. The aircraft were rebuilt from the ground up. All armament and armor was removed, and the pilot's three-piece windshield was replaced by a one-piece windshield that was equipped with wiper blades and an anti-icing system. The front engine hatch was enlarged. Two passenger seats were added forward of the bomb bay, and five seats were installed in the aft fuselage. On some airplanes, exhaust semi-collector rings replaced the "S" stacks on the top seven cylinders of each engine. Deliveries began in April of 1952, and continued through December.

I don't recall seeing that type of exhaust set up until after the war.

B-25H 43-4432/N10V - per Scott Thompson's B-25 Mitchell in Civil Service, it was surplussed in '45 so didn't go through the Hayes mods (but had a lot of changes in civilian life, including those exhausts - it had multi-stacks originally).
