There used to be a T-33 or F-80 on a pole at a rest area on IH-10 somewhere in the Florida panhandle. It's been years since I've been there, so my memory has faded.

There's also a B-52 on display at the Orlando International Airport.

VMB-611 provided Air Support to U.S. Navy PT Boats on various missions in Davao Gulf, Mindanao, P.I. My father was involved in a couple of these strikes to destroy Japanese PT Boats at Piso Point.

This boat, like our warbirds, deserves to be restored!

Another one here in my home state. An F-86 in front of the "Michigan's Own Military and Space Museum" in Frankenmuth. It was after closing time when we stopped by, so I didn't get to go inside. It's painted with the markings of two different Korean War pilots from Michigan on either side.

I'm a prop-head, so I don't know what variant it is. It was restored by Maurice "Mr. Ford Tri-Motor" in Vicksburg..I remember seeing it disassembled in his "back 40" back in the mid-90s, still in it's Bundesluftwaffe markings.

How about we pin this thread, so everybody can continue to contribute?

Pt. Mugu Pacific Missle Test Range/NAS also has a great "Roadside Attractions" display along the Pacific Coast Route 1 Hwy, south of Oxnard. The below link provides some thumbnail photos of Pt. Mugu.

Dear MustangDriver,

Last night I did some "research" on roadside aircraft in Pennsylvania. I noted that there are four locations around Pittsburgh. Three are due east of Pittsburg: A T-33 and UH-1 is located in Greensburg. Down the road another T-33 is located at Delmont. A third T-33 is located at Irwin, Pennsylvania. All about 8 miles within each other! :D Also I have noted that A F-86 is located at Imperial just south of the Pittsburgh Int' l Airport. Any chance you could ever get any pics of these?

Dear Eric aka. Airic,

I see that you saw that F-4 in Salamanca. Well, I see that there is a F-4 located in Hindales just a few miles East of Salamance. I wonder....is this the same F-4 they are talking about or are there actually two different F-4s in the general area? Also I think there is an aircraft displayed in Jamestown.

Also noted tha there is a possible F-86 in Avon, Pa just outside of Lebanon. I wish I had known that last year as I was in Lebanon several times. Had I known there was an F-86 in town I would have photographed it. Oh, well. :?

Folks, on my way up to Geneseo tomorrow I plan on taking pictures of that C-46 in Hammondsport and I may pass Geneseo to get to Canandaigua just 30 miles from Geneseo to picture an F-86. But was wondering if anyone was going to pass that way? If so I might just scratch that idea if they could get some pictures of that F-86.

Cheers,
Nate

Do you want to find locations of displayed, stored or active aircraft? Then start with the The Locator.
Do you want to find or contribute to the documented history of an aircraft? If so then start with the Airframes Database.
