Hmmm... Bomarks.

Those are not liked much in Canada for what they did to the Avro Arrow program... :?

I guess this means you're back from your trip? :-)

Interesting images - thanks for posting these as well as all you've posted and will continue to post.

There's a very good book in the Osprey series on missile defense sites like these and would go a long way towards explaining the workings of a site:

Thanks again! Mark

Yes, back from a nice trip to Corregidor and Guam to see artillery and fortifications. Mark Berhow, the author of that book is a friend of mine....
I will post some more photographs Monday or so, Mitchel Field is next and I have 250 for that, so I might weed out some.

I gotta post this one, it's Fort Hughes from Corregidor...

Picture #51 is a Remington-Burnelli RB-2.
This one was modified to carry a fully equiped, running, Essex automobile inside for demonstration purposes as a flying showroom.

Does picture #70 prove that the F-150 can out brake a 52 Pontiac coupe?

Was the "For Sale" sign in the window BEFORE the accident ?

Thanks for posting those photos. I used to live on Mitchel Field in the 60's, and in photo 31, shows that the houses were constructed in the early 30's.

Thanks! Photo 3 looks like the quarters that I used to live in. I swam in that pool in 1966 and 1967, I explored the hangars and was also in the contol tower. I even rode the tetrahedrol between the ramp and the runways. I learned how to drive on the runways, lots of concrete and no obstacles.

Way to go, AJ!!! Man, you deserve a chest-full of medals. I can't believe you are still doing this, especially considering you're not a "fly-boy".

I have been faithfully downloading pix since I discovered your postings last summer, with a few breaks here & there. I haven't seen any Republic photos, but I remember you stating early in your postings that some would be forthcoming. Please don't forget.

Btw, how did your expedition to Bataan go?

I believe picture #80 on the previous set is a Boeing 40C just like the one Boeing has just finished restoring in Spokane.

I received pics of her by email but don't know who they are from so I can't publish them. A pity really 'cause that plane is just gorgeous !!!

Not a warbird, but nice a/c anyways...

We are getting close to Republic, it will be next week. I'm glad you all enjoy these. The trip to Bataan didn't come off but we spent a week on Corregidor and went to Gaum. I saw lots of tunnels and Japanese artillery, it was a fun trip....
