I just came took a look at this thread after having seen the title on the WIX forum opening page ("Grumman and the people who built them..." or something like that) for years but never checked it out. So today I've spent probably four hours scrolling through the whole incredible thing. Fabulous!

Others have found former co-workers, squadronmates, relatives and others amid the photos, but I'll bet I'm one of a kind in who I found: My father's mistress.

Hint: she's in a Republic Seabee photo, with her husband (no, not my father...), in front of a hangar with the signage "Nantucket."

I think these photos will return on the 26th of April, if not the money at Photobucket has ran dry.

As some of you might have noticed, the pictures were gone for a few days from this site. I was thinking about letting the Photobucket hosting site expire, as it is now up to $30.00 for a year subscription to Photobucket. I wasn’t sure if it was worth it to keep it open but, after looking at this post I realized it still has about 100 people who look at it every day. I want people (old and new visitors) to enjoy the pictures, so I decided I would keep it up for at least another year. Would it be possible for anyone who looks at the post, to at least leave a small comment, one word, anything of that sort, just to let me know that you are still interested and looking at the photographs?

Thank you

This is an amazing thread and I refer to it frequently. It contains an amazing historical record and wonderful details for modelers. If you could keep it going, that would be great!

Thanks.

I poke my nose every once in a while.
It was, is and will be a great resource as long as you keep it running.
However I understand the yearly costs can be a drag, maybe a small donation fund should be started to keep all of the L.I. series up and running.

I'll concur with the others here as well. Fantastic sticky and tremendous gift you have given the members of WIX. Greatly appreciated. Please feel free to PM me anytime if you would like support to keep your account up and running. It would be a great loss to lose your hard work here.

Thank you again for your outstanding contribution

I just knew I would be happy here! These are the best photos of the interior of an Avenger I have seen! (protected childhood)
