Amazing photos, particularly the last one! Notice the pilot is using both hands to keep the airplane level.

Thanks for sharing these photos. Too much of our history is lost because of companys going out of business and and nobody caring about their archives.

Fan-freakin' tastic. I love the pic of the "factory model", and that last pic... the only other plane to lose that much wing and still fly is an F-15, so far as I know.

Thank you SO much for posting all these Grumman pics, they are most definitely appreciated!!!

Wow! Thanks for posting these. :D

I have always been interested in the Avenger's interior; specifically the radio/belly gunner's position. These really help!

Great photos. Love the one with the Wildcat for scale. Any ID on the carriers?

Speaking of wing-loss, wasn't there a C-47 that lost most of the wing outboard of the nacelle in a collision, but still managed to land? I thought I read that somewhere...

Belleau Wood on the top picture with the TBM's with the hook down, none for bottom pic with the plane over the side, remember a right click and save will give you some info

Truly excellent - thanks for taking the time to post them. Got more and/or other Grumman products?!

EDIT - I see your Goose posting now - excellent! I love the list you have - hope you have some F11F Tiger pics as well :-)

Enjoy the Day! Mark

Great photo's, thanks for posting them. Any British FAA a/c amongst them?

I'm using a Mac, so no right clicking for me  Is there another way?

Also, it can't be the Belleau Wood. The ship in the pic with the "hooks down" is definitely an Essex class CV, while Belleau Wood was an Independence class CVL.

The pic with the TBF catching the wire on the deck could be Belleau Wood, because that appears to be an Independence class.

The one hanging over the side is a CVE, but not sure which one.

Quite a collection of rare photos.I've been involved with TBM's since 1963 and have only seen two or three of these pictures.Any idea as to the function of the bicycle handbrake type handle clamped to the control column on the mockup of the cockpit in photo #7450? I've seen the last picture with a large section of the left wing missing before, but hadn't noticed the flattened portion of the vertical fin extension aft of the turret.Strangely, the way that its flattened look like the blast effect came from the right side.I've never seen any info on how much longer this airplane remained controlable and airborne.Any info on that Jack? Anyone?

i recognize the clipped wing damage pic, but have never seen the others. are the others previously unpublished????
