I know there has been much hope about eventually raising a TBD. Has anyone seen pictures of the ones mentioned in this article? Outside the Navy problem we have discussed here what are the obstacles to raising anything in the Marshalls?

I read some stuff on the Marshalls recently, If I remember right, they have declared all of the airplanes, ships, tanks, ect, some kind of national heritage/tourism sites, and it is forbidden to remove anything, even if a lot of money, and a suitable, permanent, replacement is provided. The writer thought that the powers that be in the Marshalls didn't understand the finite nature of the submerged artifacts, and that they have less than 20years left, before there is nothing. I think the Marshall's dude/dudes are just holding out for the big payola.

Maybe, if the UNESCO(?) thing thats being tried with the Swamp Ghost in PNG works, it'll get all these maroon's off off their greedy a***s and sell these things off, or get nothing, and still lose the airplane.

Remind me again. Is TIGHAR the group that was involved in the search for Amelia Earhart's plane several years ago? A lot of loud claims, and little else?

Those guys at Tighar are a bunch of blow hards,A-holes and wannabes. However,I gotta admit that they've pursued their search for Amelia Earhart on Nicamororo? Island rather extensively.Too bad that all they have to show for it is the sole off of a womans shoe(claimed that it proved that they were right and had solved the Earhart/Noonan mystery)yeah right!yuk yuk!oh yeah,I almost forgot about the piece of Lockheed Electra aluminum that wasnt from a Lockheed Electra .The thing that bothers me most about these guys is that they go around telling everybody who will listen that they are warbird and historic aircraft experts and that all warbirds and the like should be grounded and kept in museums and they have supported proposed bullsh*t legislation wanting to do just this.Experts they aren't and a threat to the warbird movement they are,Watch out for these clowns and beware.
