[OLD PICS] F-4 Phantoms, Vietnam

Several of the inquiries I received after posting Dick Kamm's C-123 pics from Vietnam concerned F-4s. Upon delving into these I found that Dick left behind more Vietnam F-4 pics than I thought (about 350) so the following is a small sampling, but still more than I had expected to post. Sorry if it is too many. I have tried to choose ones that show not only a variety of different aircraft, but also different angles, service equipment, buildings, and maintenance procedures to give an idea of what the base looked like. Squadron and wing affiliation is as noted by Dick; I have not attempted to verify. Date of all pics is 1967-68 and place is Cahm Rahn Bay. Hope you enjoy.
Proceeding roughly in serial number order, here is F-4C 63-7428. 480 TFS, 366 TFW.
F-4C 63-7442. 559 TFS, 12 TFW.
F-4C 63-7490. With bombs, then without.
F-4C 63-7496 going hunting. 558 TFS. Looking very clean and spiffy.
F-4C 63-7497.
F-4C 63-7507. 559 TFS, 12 TFW. Now on display at Marshalltown, IA.
F-4C 63-7517. 391 TFS, 12 TFW.
F-4C 63-7519. Now on display at Southern California Logistics Airport, formerly George AFB.
F-4C 63-7522. 558 TFS, 12 TFW. One of several that I chose because of interesting maintenance equipment alongside.
F-4C 63-7524. 390 TFS, 366 TFW.
F-4C 63-7528 out of the revetment and on the flight line. 557 TFS, 12 TFW. Lost in combat 11/4/69 with both crew KIA.

F-4C 63-7679. 480 TFS, 366 TFW. Bears a kill marking under the Gunfighters unit insignia aft of the intake (see closeup, 2nd pic). I have not yet verified whether this is a MiG killer. It is preserved and displayed in Portland, OR.
F-4C 63-7686 in the shed for engine work.
F-4C 63-7701. 391 TFS, 12 TFW.
F-4C 63-7713. 557 TFS, 12 TFW. Lost 7/5/68 on armed recce, crew reported ejected, still MIA.
F-4C 64-666. 389 TFS, 366 TFW.
F-4C 64-673. 389 TFS, 366 TFW. Now on display at Pima, AZ.
F-4C 64-679. Shot down MiG-17 on 7/10/65. Now on display at Misawa AB, Japan.
F-4C 64-694. 391 TFS, 12 TFW.
F-4C 64-699. Shot down a MiG-17 on 4/23/66. Now preserved (don't know if on display) at Davis-Monthan AFB, AZ.
F-4C 64-704 "Shehasta". 559 TFS, 12 TFW. These slides are labeled "Repairing battle damage." Aeromaster featured this aircraft on a model decal sheet (#48-472).

RF-4C 65-895.

Gr8 pics! One of my favorite "all planes-all eras" wartime paint jobs are the USAF Phantoms in their SEA garb.
A little tip I picked up from another site ... hopefully I'm not the last one to find this out.
If you wish to save all the pics in a post like that above, but you don't want to right-click-save for an hour, once you're on the page simply go up to the top left and click FILE>SAVE AS. This will save the entire web page, including each separate photo.
Save the page to the appropriate folder in your PhotoShop, et al, files, and then later you can go back and delete all the items in that file that are NOT pictures. Try it - saves a ton of time when there's a page with lots of great pictures like this one.

Great shots,love to see those 'old' F4's,specialy those F4's in this collection
who where lost during it's time in SEA,these maybe the only photo's that are in existence and of great value for a Phantom Phan like me.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I guess I underestimated the phanaticism of Phantom phanciers. I'm glad you're enjoying these. As I said, I have over 300 more F-4 shots, depicting many other aircraft, so I guess I'll run a few more through the scanner this weekend.
Scott: No problem using the pics, just don't crop or obscure the attribution/copyright stamp (I knew you wouldn't).
Django: I am neither a Nam nor a Phantom specialist, but as I understand it, one squadron (390) of the Gunfighters (366 TFW) was based at CRB for a time. There are also pics of 480 Sqn birds, I don't know if they were based at CRB, maybe just dropping in or reassigned but not yet repainted.
Nest: I agree with you about the aircraft that were later lost in action. I have shots of several more such aircraft, as well as a few more MiG killers, and will prioritize those for this weekend's scanning.
Lynn: Thank you for the very nice and touching thoughts. Dick would no doubt be happy to know that people are enjoying these images. I went to some trouble to make sure that these pics wouldn't end up in some shelf or closet somewhere being ignored (or worse) by people who didn't know Dick, and reactions like those of Mr Vargo's dad are exactly why. sabredriver (and Lynn): Yes, I would like to share higher res versions (the original chromes are beautiful) and they should be in books. Where scans are concerned, I'm going to limit myself to distributing pics not much larger than these because of bandwidth, storage, cost, and copyright concerns. I do share scans with authors working on print publications at whatever resolution is needed. I have been thinking about possible publication options through print-on-demand web sites like lulu.com. Any ideas along this line are welcome. Should a book include just F-4 pics, or also other types at CRB?

I think a book covering all the slides you can get into images as of vietnam would make a beautiful thing.
Ive a few vietnam books and i can say only one so far don logan 388th TFW at korat comes close to the quality of this phantom photos you shown us.
Id be willing to spend abit if there a way to get theese photos into a cd to me also so i could use them as reference for my hobbie of the usaf vietnam war research i like to do also.
can you contact me privately if you got any ideas of what you could offer me?

Really enjoyed the F-4 images. I was based @ DaNang AB from Nov 66 - Nov 67 as a SGT in the USAF. Took quite a lot of slides of aircraft, including F-4's. Need to get them scanned and posted one of these days! It was very impressive to walk over to the runway and watch the AM or PM strike aircraft takeoff. Flights of four aircraft wud takeoff from each of 2 parallel runways at the same time, quite a sight, wish I'd had a viedo camera in those days. At least one of my slides was used in a well known Phantom book without attribution to me, didn't even get a copy of the book from the author who shall remain nameless. Also saw a lot of A-6, A-1 (VNAF), C-46 (Air America), C-47 / AC-47, C-54, C-118, C7, C-123, C-124, C-130 (some with drones), C-141, F-8, EF-10B, UH-1, HH-43, HH-3, etc. Great site!!
