Late breaking news today !

Buchon ~ G-AWHE made what I think was it's third post restoration flight this evening after the museum at Duxford was closed.

Seeing it fly across my home ~ I grabbed the big lens and ran to the car and drove to a spot near the approach.

Luckily the test flight lasted long enough for me to get into position and here's a couple on pix.
They're not brilliant ~ poor light and a high ISO number and I've had to crop right into the image .....

As the flight test program moves forward ~ I hope to get some nicer pix to share

Whoa !!!!!! It's the Buchon overhead again

SCRAMBLE

As it turned out I had bags of time as it was another long air test.
Towards the end of the flight ~ we could see some aeros being done in the distance ~ which is a good sign ....
And then tower announces he's asked for 5 mins over the airfield !

Of 232 snaps ~ this next one is the keeper :D

It evens crops nicely

A beautiful demonstration by John Romain as always :drink3:

It is awesome to see this aircraft back up and flying again, and looking better than ever with superb paint work! Beautiful photos - very well captured, and thank you for posting them here and allowing those of us from thousands of miles away to keep 'tabs' on the Duxford activities. ; )

Only a matter of time until both Duxford-Buchons will be in the air side-by-side, I'd imagine!

Oh crap...don't let Vlado see it...they painted the inside of the gear doors!!!

The face looks like one of the characters from the Thomas the Tank Engine series!

I think it is a model for the next Mike the Mustang character.

Dateline ~ Friday the 13th ...... there's bad news and good news

I didn't have time to take pix on the B-24 today

I spent my time down the other end of the airfield waiting for the F-86A to make its move.

The Aircraft Restoration Company has transformed its appearance with a temporary paint scheme for pilot Cliff Spink ~
so he could take it to the NATO "Tiger" Meet at Cambrai in France this weekend. He served as CO of
No. 74 ( Tiger ) Squadron during his distinguished career with the RAF.

Image

Image

Image

Image

OK ~ that's enough teasing ...... let's see what a marvelous job Col Pope has done in devising the paint scheme

Now what could top that ?

Image

Image

After which ~ the F-86 departed the circuit to wow the folk at the Tiger Meet in Cambrai and
John Romain brought the Buchon back into Duxford

Image

Image

To all those who worked so hard to make this happen ~ thanks for making this a super Friday for me !

I hope by sharing these images ~ I've helped to make Friday the 13th a little bit brighter on WIX too
