Boeing B-50D Superfortress 49-0270 97thBG Academy kit 1/72.

The old 1/72nd Academy kit for B-50D 49-0270 “City Of El Paso” of the 97BG 341st BS actually shows the tail number as “260”. Does anyone know why?

Also does anyone know where they got the art work from, as I am currently researching this particular B-50D 9270 and would like to find a photo of it?!

Does no-one in the US have a photo of B-50D 49-0270 “City Of El Paso” in which five airmen lost their lives?

I can just make out at the front near the nose glazing the words ** LT C****** R*******. When ‘270 went down the Nav was Lt Carmine Racioppo so I’m guessing this is what is said. Unfortunately the writing under the pilots window is blurred.

Am I reading too much into this or was it standard practice for B-50D bombers to carry the crew names on the fuselage sides?
