Heard this afternoon that Joe Mabee passed away Saturday, Oct. 3.

Joe was an incredible philanthropist, an outstanding aviator and quite the collector of old airplanes. More than that - he had a heart of gold.

There are many warbirds today that would not be flying if it wasn't for Joe and the resources he put into the airplanes. I can tell you personally, there are a lot of us that can remember Joe and Van's hospitality out at Mabee Ranch.

The Permian Basin has lost a legend.

God bless Van, Guy and John and all of the family, those of us from the CAF in New Mexico and West Texas will long remember this oilman that cared about our cause.
