My uncle Karl Evans SGT was a tail-gunner on this aircraft. He was shot down in Feb 1944 and was a POW for the duration. Originally, he assigned to a B-17 called something like "Jinnie" with other letters after it. Can't find any info on this. He apparently was tapped to sub for a Jim Mallinger (gunner) who couldn't fly for some reason that day. Any thoughts?
